Here is where we post all of our upcoming workshops, ran by our Education team. All workshops are open to COPE Ontario members only, and please note that some workshops require prerequisites.

Stewards Training
August 20, 5:30PM-8:30PM EST | Zoom
Stewards are the front-line representatives of the union in the workplace. In this workshop, you will learn about how to assist and represent your fellow union members. Topics include grievance handling, labour management meetings, and disciplinary hearings.
Collective Bargaining
September 1, 5:30PM-8:30PM EST | Zoom
Collective bargaining is the process by which a collective agreement is reached between the Union and the Employer. This workshop covers the bargaining process, including gathering and drafting proposals, setting up bargaining dates and what to expect at the bargaining table.
Increasing our Chances at Arbitration

More grievances are dismissed at arbitration than sustained. This workshop gives stewards the tools they need to build grievance files that can win at a hearing. Topics include grievance writing, timeline management, gathering evidence, and an overview of the arbitration process.

Preparing for a Labour Dispute

Sometimes, despite best efforts at the bargaining table, negotiations break down and a work stoppage occurs. This workshop covers the process preceding a strike, the preparatory work needed to establish and sustain a picket line, and communications tips to get your messaging out to who needs to hear it.
