Terry Hall – COPE Ontario Benefit Representative



Before joining the former Mid Canada Council COPE (now COPE Ontario) Terry had spent many years as a private sector Consultant acting as an advocate for people with chronic illness and disability. This entailed acting on their behalf to assist them in accessing the multitude of government assistance employment, financial and housing programs available for the chronically ill and disabled. It also included individual injured worker advocacy with the WSIB complex case network, as well as advocacy with various insurance companies and Canada Mortgage and Housing.

A past Director with the Thunder Bay and District Injured Workers Resource Centre, North of Superior Training Program, the Thunder Bay Home Builders Association, and President/Director of Persons United for Self Help Northwest (P.U.S.H.). Terry has been an active and outspoken advocate for the rights of the ill and disabled. He has presented deputations advancing the rights of the ill and disabled before municipal and provincial government standing committees as well as spoken as a guest speaker before many Unions, for profit and non profit organizations.

Terry was educated at McMaster University and the University of Alberta, studying economics, history and law. He is a past recipient of the Thunder Bay and District Labour Council, Labour Person of the Year Award – Health and Safety. He is an Instructor with the Worker Health and Safety Centre and currently sits on the Ontario Federation of Labour Persons with Disabilities committee.

A person with a non visible physical disability and chronic illness is a “survivor” and Terry continues to advocate and advance the rights of COPE union members experiencing illness, chronic illness, injury and disability.
