Lynda Cook, COPE Ontario Staff Representative

Lynda has been active in the labour movement for more than thirty-three years. Her exposure to the labour movement began while she was still in high school assisting her father who was the local union president of his workplace. After high school she worked in the education sector and was responsible for organizing the secondary school clerical employees at the Hamilton Board of Education and later organized the educational assistants. Lynda also served as President of Local 343 for one term and President of Local 527 for two terms. In 1986 she accepted a position as an organizer with the Office and Professional Employees International Union (O.P.E.I.U.) Central Ontario Council and became a staff representative in 1988.
